Project Description

Get your mattress online

Mattresses are available online through a wide selection of retailers and offer direct-to-consumer shopping experiences. Companies like Tuft & Needle, Trident and Mattress Matthew created user-friendly and hassle-free websites to make your experience an efficient one. Online mattresses save you money through their lower overhead costs and provide you with more benefit for the price you pay, though it can have drawback compared to visiting a brick-and-mortar store.

This is what your Bed Buddy Believes you should do when you are on the prowl for a new mattress.

Set your price range

Base this on your personal finances, not what you “like.” Traditional innerspring mattresses are the most popular and most cost-effective mattress option. Though if you have any sort of sleeper preference or pain/sleep issues it may be better to reach towards memory foam or latex. Cost primarily relates to like size, composition, and brand and expect to pay more for the more customized support and comfort models.

Do some research

Once you have a price range nailed down, you can begin comparison-shopping for mattress models. We offer a wide variety of reviews and the exact product specs for hundreds of different mattress brands and models.

Some retailers and manufacturers offer full-service delivery on mattresses, which includes moving the mattress into the buyer’s house and assembling it. Other mattress providers will limit this service to front-door delivery.

Returns and additional charges

The return and refund fees for online mattress sellers are usually lower than those of brick-and-mortar stores. Many direct-to-consumer companies will arrange to remove the mattress as is from your home and transport it at no extra cost. Some retailers, however, will require you to box up the mattress before it can be picked up and shipped. In most cases, purchasing a mattress online will not incur any delivery fees or state sales tax ― but it’s important to read the fine print just in case.

Trial period?

Since testing out a mattress in-person may not be an option when you buy a mattress online, many retailers and direct-to-consumer companies offer generous trial periods ― two to three months, in some cases. During this period, you will be able to return the mattress if you are not satisfied and receive a full refund without extra charges.

There are many warranty-related factors to consider, such as shipping costs and prorated/non-prorated coverage.

If trying out a mattress is important, then you may want to consider visiting a brick-and-mortar store. In addition to retailer stores, mattress companies like Casper, Leesa, and Nest own and operate brick-and-mortar showrooms and will host pop-up shows in different cities from time to time.

In-person visits will give you the chance to test different mattresses for firmness, sinking depth and other qualities. Be sure to make note of all mattresses you test out that are within your price range, and then you can compare them using our mattress search engine.

We’re your Bed Buddy!!

Our mission is a simple one: We want to help you get incredible sleep, like a good sleep buddy should. And how you might ask? By not only conducting extensive research into the subject itself, but by personally testing out the thousands of mattresses on the market that claim to improve the quality of your slumber.

We really sleep on our mattress research by testing each for at least a hundred sleeps! We do not just compare features like review blogs, nor collate others’ online reviews, nor do a brief test of one to seven nights. No, our research includes a one hundred consecutive sleep test, so we can say, ‘Yup, this is what we found, because we really slept on it!’

We have no affiliation with the companies we feature, and any advertisements that appear on this website not at our discretion. They are there to keep the slumber party going. The Bed Buddy team takes incredible pride in the work we do. We hope that the reviews, news, and sleep information can help you on your personal journey for better sleep. And the job is fun – it’s not all naps! … sometimes… We love creating content that you enjoy, whether it’s on our site, or our newsletter, which you should sign up for.
