Bed Buddy Report | Findings |

The Loom & Leaf mattress by Saatva is a memory foam bed that takes on the luxury memory foam players like TEMPUR-Pedic. Loom & Leaf is one of very few online, direct-to-consumer memory foam mattresses that is not compressed and shipped in a box. While it’s priced a little higher than well-known memory foam models like the Casper and the Layla, the Loom & Leaf far exceeds their quality. I think this is a bed that’s worth paying a little more for.

The Loom & Leaf uses high-density memory foams – including a convoluted memory foam laminated with cooling gel in the top layer – and supporting that is a base layer of high-density polyfoam. This composition all adds up to an extremely supportive, pressure-relieving feel. My aggregated customer experience data shows this bed removes many of the pain points on the body that folks normally feel.

With two comfort level options, a Relaxed Firm and Firm, the Loom & Leaf has shown to meet the preferences of most sleepers. Not only does the Loom & Leaf receive rave reviews from happy customers, our in-house testing process backs that up with high ratings. On top of that, Saatva offers unparalleled service with free White Glove delivery and free removal of your old mattress.

Loom & Leaf mattresses are available in two different firmness ratings: the ‘Relaxed Firm,’ which corresponds to a 5.5 (or Medium) on our firmness scale; and the ‘Firm,’ which corresponds to an 8 (Firm) on our firmness scale. A full breakdown of mattress dimensions and components is found in the table below.

What Type of Sleeper Is Best Suited for a Loom & Leaf Mattress?

Based on my customer feedback, Loom & Leaf mattresses received the following grades among sleepers of different weights and preferred sleep positions. Please note that these ratings are subjective, and that everyone has varying experiences on different mattresses. Sleeper comfort and spinal support are the most important factors when it comes to selecting a mattress.

Using a differential construction, the thicker comfort layers in the Loom & Leaf help to cradle your body’s profile so that you don’t feel pressure in areas where you dig further into the bed. As you can see above, side sleepers of all weight categories should rejoice when they lay down on the Loom & Leaf. It has an absorbing softness to contour your body, but also a progressive resistance so that you don’t sink into the bed.

With Firm and Relaxed Firm options, the Loom & Leaf also caters to stomach and back sleepers of any weight. Some petite body profiles could feel the Relaxed Firm doesn’t sink far enough for their comfort preference, though, customer data shows this is rarely an issue.

For more information on sleeping positions please see my guides for side, back, stomach and combination sleepers.

My testing process found the Loom & Leaf should also be great for you if…

  • You’re looking for an better quality soft mattress.
  • You love the feel of memory foam – sleeping more “in” than “on” a bed.
  • You don’t have an issue sleeping warm. Rather, you tend to be on the cooler side and want a warmer surface.
  • You and a partner share a bed, and one of you is rather “active” in your sleep. The motion transfer on the Loom & Leaf is exceptional.

We’re your Bed Buddy!!

Our mission is a simple one: We want to help you get incredible sleep, like a good sleep buddy should. And how you might ask? By not only conducting extensive research into the subject itself, but by personally testing out the thousands of mattresses on the market that claim to improve the quality of your slumber.

We really sleep on our mattress research by testing each for at least a hundred sleeps! We do not just compare features like review blogs, nor collate others’ online reviews, nor do a brief test of one to seven nights. No, our research includes a one hundred consecutive sleep test, so we can say, ‘Yup, this is what we found, because we really slept on it!’

We have no affiliation with the companies we feature, and any advertisements that appear on this website not at our discretion. They are there to keep the slumber party going. The Bed Buddy team takes incredible pride in the work we do. We hope that the reviews, news, and sleep information can help you on your personal journey for better sleep. And the job is fun – it’s not all naps! … sometimes… We love creating content that you enjoy, whether it’s on our site, or our newsletter, which you should sign up for.
